Instead of hanging it on a wall, you could suspend it from the ceiling with decorative ribbons, chains or wire creating a 3 dimensional look.  A small wall clock can be set on a shelf with a plate stand for a different look.  Another idea is to attach a clock to a larger abstract painting,  using the painting as a background.  Add a spacer made out of a block of wood to the painting and the clock will stand out more.
